SRINAGAR: The residents of Drass area of Kargil have been fearing the free-roaming wild animals which are attacking their livestock.

Shahida Noor, a local said, “This is happening every year and we continue to lose our livestock and our lives are at risk.”

She said that every year they lose domestic animals.

The locals also said that they also fear for the safety of their children,

“The administration cannot bring them back, who is responsible for this loss,” they said.

They said the authorities take it on an easy note terming it unfortunate.

They alleged the administration is not aware about the situation of villagers.

“They have fixed compensation of Rs 700 for one sheep, how is it justified?” locals asked.

They demand that authorities must take note of the situation so that residents are freed from the fear of these animals.
