Militant outfit Hizbul Mujhadeen Tuesday said that it will ‘not spare’ the killers of Sheikh Altaf who was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in North Kashmir’s Sopore town of Baramulla district on Tuesday morning.

In a statement to CNS, Salim Hashmi, Spokesperson of the outfit while quoting Hizb Chief said, “Syed Salahuddin during his address to Hizb Command Council said that the killing of Sheikh Altaf is sheepish act of Indian agencies.”

“Altaf was a true soldier of freedom struggle who spent years in narrow cells of the Indian jails. He never gave up and at present too he was a responsible leader of Tehreek-i-Hurriyat,” he said adding that his brother Abdul Rouf was put to death by Indian troopers in 1999.

“We condemn this killing and want to send clear and loud message to the enemies, that they can’t suppress the freedom struggle by such tactics.”

Syed Salahudin said, “anti-freedom struggle forces are busy in making plots to create confusion in Sopore that has been the epicenter of freedom struggle.”

“The murder of Sheikh Altaf is the part of this conspiracy. People are asked to beware of these elements and cooperate and support the militants to foil the wicked designs of anti-freedom struggle elements,” he said.

“People and militants will jointly make the plan of Indian Defence Minister Manohar Parikar unsuccessful, who has started to revive Kuka Parray Chapter in Kashmir,” he said.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family Sheikh Muhammad Yousuf, Salahuddin supported the strike call forwarded by Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani for Sopore town against the killing of Sheikh Altaf.
