Hurriyat (m) Executive Meet on Wednesday

All Parties Hurriyat Conference (m) Chairperson, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Wednesday presided over the joint meeting of Hurriyat amalgam’s Executive Council, General Council and Working Committee held at Hurriyat Hqts Rajbagh where a threadbare discussion was held on various issues related to latest political developments, ongoing struggle and organizational matters.

Expressing satisfaction over the resumption of dialogue process between India and Pakistan, Hurriyat (m) called upon the Indo-Pak leadership to rise above their traditional political stances and show statesmanship and seriousness in resolving the vexed Kashmir issue for ensuring long-lasting peace and stability in the region.

In the meeting it was said, “Kashmir is basically a political and a human issue related to political future of Kashmiris for which the people of Kashmir have been giving scarifies for the last seven decades particularly from past 27 years.”

“Kashmiris are the fundamental party and part of the Kashmiri issue and the absence of Kashmiris in the Indo-Pak dialogue has been the reason that in past these dialogues have proved to be futile. Therefore, it is imperative upon both India and Pakistan to devise a mechanism to take Kashmiris on-board for any dialogue process to be result oriented and meaningful because without their participation and without taking their aspirations into account there cannot be a just and agreeable solution to this issue,” a Hurriyat (m) statement said this evening.

“On the occasion, it was maintained that Hurriyat will play its positive role vis-a-vis dialogue and the resolution of all issues including Kashmir,” the statement said.

The meeting took serious note of government’s proposal for turning Bajpathri in Budgam into Army firing range and expressed anguish over the government move. “Most of the tourist and environment rich destinations have already been handed over to Army and turned into firing ranges.”

The Hurriyat (m) members held that the turning of Bajpathri into firing range will not only damage the ecological balance and forest resources of this destination but will also hit the economy of the local populace as it is a tourist destination.

Meanwhile, rich tributes were paid to martyr and resistance leader Ghulam Muhammad Mir alias Shams-ul-Haq on his anniversary.

A condolence meet was also held at martyrs graveyard which was led by Javid Ahmad Mir and rich tributes were paid to him.
