The windstorm on June 15 that hit Kashmir across its breadth, large amounts of fruits were blown off trees in North Kashmir’s Uri.

The Local farmers said that the fast blowing wind in the yesterday evening knocked apple and walnut fruit off the trees.

The wind has created a huge crop loss in the area. The farmers demand that authorities should visit the area and take survey damage so that they can be compensated soon.

The windstorm created havoc in the area as the roofs of houses and shops were blown away. “My shopping complex lost the roof due to the wind,” Haji Assadullah lone, a businessman in Uri said.

The electric lines got snapped at several places due to windstorm. Score of villages are without electricity since last evening. The 33000 KV snapped high tension line is yet to be fixed.

Muneer Ahmad, a Junior Engineer in power department, told Kashmir Life, “damage caused to electricity connectivity due to windstorm is 30%- 40%.”

He said that the power supply is expected to be restored by this evening.
