Finalizing the time frame for the winter vacations in valley, the education department has recommended that the middle schools in valley should close on December 2 and the vacations be granted to the higher classes from December 10.

The sources close to the Directorate of school Education Kashmir informed KNS that the department has sent the recommendations to the commissioner secretary education and to the education minister, advocating that due to the persistent cold conditions prevailing in valley at present, the  winter vacations be granted to the schools here on December 2 and 10 respectively.

The sources further inform that the recommendations sent by the Directorate of school Education Kashmir are expected to be accepted and that the government in the near future will announce the final dates of vacations officially.

Meanwhile, Several parents have expressed their concern that due to the severe cold conditions in valley, the schools have no heating arrangements for children and that the government must announce the vacations at the earliest.

  1. Government should issue order to install heating systems/arrangements in Govt as well as Private schools to avoid severe cold
    And study in schools should be continue for the month of December 2013.
