SRINAGAR: A 45-year-old woman was killed after being hit by a truck in a hit-and-run incident in Shendara, Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, on Friday evening, officials said.
They said that the victim, identified as Hamida Bi, wife of the late Mohd Akbar and a resident of Shendara, was rushed to District Hospital Poonch following the accident. “Doctors at the hospital pronounced her dead on arrival.”
The truck, they added, fled the scene after the collision.
Police have in the meantime registered a case and launched an investigation to identify and apprehend the driver responsible for the incident. (GNS)
