SRINAGAR: A woman was seriously injured after she was attacked by three bears while cutting grass in the Chhamber Kinari area of Mandi tehsil in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district on Tuesday.
Quoting officials news agency GNS reported that the woman, identified as Hazra Begum, was working in the fields when the bears attacked her, leaving her with serious injuries.
She was immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital Mandi, from where doctors referred her to District Hospital Poonch for specialised treatment.
The incident marks the second bear attack reported from the area in the past two days, creating fear among local residents.
Wildlife officials have been alerted, while locals have urged the administration to take immediate steps to prevent further incidents of human-wildlife conflict in the region.
