A wreath laying ceremony for policeman Mahmood Ahmad , killed in militant attack at Mirbazar on Saturday night, was held at DPL Kulgam on Sunday.
As per a police statement, DIG south Kashmir S P Pani led Civil, police and CRPF officers in laying the floral wreaths on the body of the slain.
SP Kulgam Shridhar Patil, ACR Kulgam, other senior Police and CRPF officers and family members of the slain were present and paid floral tributes to the him, the statement said.
The Police spokesperson said in the statement that, Mahmood Ahmad was killed in a brief encounter between police and militants at Al-staff Malpora late Saturday evening.
Later on the body of the slain cop was handed over to his family for last rites with salutary respect.
He is survived by old aged parents, wife and two boys aged nine year and eight months.
