Experimental Moving Images and Theater Association (XMITA) is inviting entries for the Fifth edition of International film festival of Kashmir (IFFK-2015) on eve of its eleven years of establishment since 2004.

According to an XMITA statement, the film festival is tentatively scheduled to be held in the month of August this year and is expected to be “the biggest event” of XMITA so far with participation of films and filmmakers from “all over the world”.

“The interested filmmakers, media students and amateurs can visit IFFK website www.xmita.org to send their entries before July 31,” an XMITA spokesperson said.

“The films shall be accepted in five (7) languages (Kashmiri, Dogri, English, Hindi, Urdu, Pahari and Ladakhi) along with other language films subtitled in English.

IFFK-2015 will be a competitive film festival and with many changes in the screening pattern of the films this year,” the spokesperson added.

XMITA also intend to invite filmmakers, organize a master-class and include a student section as well as TV-(Cultural) section. “At present we are inviting films for pre-selection stage after which the panelists at the films division of XMITA will shortlist films for screening from amongst the received films. The shortlisted films will be then screened during the International Film Festival of Kashmir 2015 in which the entry is free,” the spokesperson said.

The statement further said that the Filmmakers of J&K can send more than one entry while for non-J&K filmmakers number of films per Director/Producer at the pre-selection stage is strictly one.

“For Competition, Non-competition and Student sections the film must not have been screened before 1st Jan 2012 and as far as the TV-Cultural section is concerned the date of production should not be before 1st Jan 2011,” the spokesperson maintained.
