JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik was Wednesday arrested on way to Malangpora, Pulwama—where he was visiting with his party men to “express solidarity” with the bereaved family.

Bilal Ahmad Bhat, a civilian, was a killed when BSF opened fire on people protesting against the killing of two militants in Pulwama yesterday. The killing evoked wide-spread condemnation forcing government spokesperson to announce “time-bound probe”, termed “time-buying exercise” by the locals.

“I was arrested ahead of Badami Bagh Army Cantonment,” said Malik, while being taken to some undisclosed location.

Pulwama is observing a complete shutdown today against the killings of militants and civilian. Interestingly, to condemn the civilian killing, Hurriyat (g) yesterday announced a shutdown call only for Pulwama district, major parts of which were already shut since Monday.
