SRINAGAR: In order to inculcate a scientific temper and expose the young minds to learn about the Universe, J&K Yateem Foundation Science Club and J&K Science Teachers Association (STA) jointly organised a ‘Planet Watch Camp’ at Al Hilal Residential Educational Institute at Chawalgam Kulgam. Three powerful telescopes were set up to help to participate students watch the planets and the moon.

Al Hilal Residential Educational Institute is run by J&K Yateem Foundation, a majority charity funded rehabilitation centre for orphans and destitute. A spokesman of the Foundation said hundreds of living around the facility participated in the Camp.

“The participants evinced great interest and were fascinated to watch the four moons of the planet Jupiter, rings of the planet Saturn and beautiful Venus planet of the solar system besides craters on the moon,” a statement issued by the Foundation said. “A Planetarium Show was also held for the students to explore various constellations of stars.”

Foundation has extended profound gratitude to STA Secretary Syed Ishtiyaq Hussain, Educationist Bashir Talib and dedicated resource persons. “Such scientific activities in addition to routine academic activities shall go a long way in helping young children to experience unique activities that would help them to learn about Creations in the Universe through scientific perspective,” the statement added.
