Hurriyat Conference (g) Monday out rightly rejected the accusation levelled by the PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti and the police that the youth misbehaved and passed lewd comments over the girl participants.

Hurriyat Conference (g) said, “whatever happened at the marathon race is the inner voice of the people of Kashmir and the PDP president tried to change discourse of the event by speaking blatant lie.”

In a statement to KNS, the Hurriyat (g) spokesperson said, “the organization of the marathon race by the Big 92.7 FM was not any simple and transparent event but it was a politically motivated program which was aimed to overshadow the atrocities and oppression of India in Kashmir and to show the situation of Kashmir is returning in favour of India and the people are fed up with the freedom sloganeering and are now interested in sports activities.”

Spokesperson said, “whatever happened during the race on Sunday was not any planned or organized program but it is the reality of Kashmir. Every person in Kashmir is filled with the freedom sentiments and whenever they feel that the Kashmir discourse is being changed, they show their resentment against that.” “It is not the first time but it is a great tradition from a very long time and it cannot be changed by fixing any type of hypothetical theories and accusations.”

Hurriyat (g) reminded that in 1980s during the cricket match between India and West Indies, “the Kashmiri people not only raised pro-freedom slogans but they surprised the whole world when they supported and cheered for the guest West Indies team instead of India and showed their anger against India”.

“The youth expressed their anger by raising pro-freedom slogans during the marathon race which not only humiliated the government but it also embarrassed the organizers of the race. They were finding ways, excuse and justifications to cover-up their failure and the ‘Azaadi show’ for the whole day. Spokesman said that we came to know that in afternoon a hypothetical theory was made and it was decided by the police and the government that to change the discourse we have to level some allegations and then they claimed that the youths passed lewd and indecent comments over the girl participants,” the Hurriyat (g) statement said.

Hurriyat (g) spokesperson claimed, “the parents of the girl participants were also present on the occasion and no such complaint was received from them or the girls over which Mehbooba Mufti is crying and threatening of stern action.”

While demanding immediate release of the youth arrested on the occasion of the marathon race, Hurriyat Conference (g) said, “if rising ‘Azadi’ slogans is a crime then you have to detain entire Kashmiri nation in the police stations because they all are opposed to the forced occupation of India in Kashmir and openly demand freedom from its control.”
