SRINAGAR: A youth was killed and an 18-year-old girl was injured after two motorcycles collided on Chanapora Bridge in Srinagar on Sunday, officials said.
Officials said the accident involved a motorcycle bearing registration number JK04-4193 and another motorcycle, which is yet to be identified.
The deceased was identified as Imad Aijaz, son of Aijaz Ahmad Mughal, a resident of Karnah who was presently residing at Sebdan in Budgam. He died on the spot due to the impact of the collision.
The pillion rider, Muskan, 18, daughter of Danish Hussain Shah, a resident of Tangdhar presently living in Bemina, sustained injuries in the accident. She was shifted to Government Hospital Barzulla for treatment.
Officials said the rider of the other motorcycle fled the scene immediately after the collision along with the vehicle.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and launched an investigation to identify the absconding rider and ascertain the circumstances that led to the accident. (JKNS)
