The protesters were coming from Fatahgarh area of Sheeri towards the main market when police and CRPF had to fire to disperse them to make way for the cavalcade of a state minister and DC Baramulla.

The procession was about to reach Sheeri main market, when forces opened fire in air and resorted heavy tear gas shelling to make passage for minister Taj Mohidin and DC Baramulla who were on their way to district headquarter  from Uri after a routine inspection.

“We were coming from Uri after inspecting whether the curfew was in place or not when we saw protesters coming out from Fatahgarh. But we were not targeted,”  said DC Baramulla, Ghulam Ahmad Khawja.
