SRINAGAR
A Mumbai court has sent Bollywood actor Zaira Waseem’s molester Vikas Sachdev, to judicial custody till December 22, for allegedly molesting her in Delhi vistara flight, on Wednesday.
Vikas was arrested late on Sunday night after the alleged molestation incident involving the “Dangal” actress enraged the nation, evoking intense reactions from politicians, women organisations and activists.
He was produced before the Dindoshi court in suburban Malad after his two-day police custody ended. The police sought his further custody.
“After hearing the arguments, the court sent the accused to judicial custody till 22 December. Sachdev also moved an application for bail, which will be heard on 15 December,” TV channel India TV reported.
Vikas Sachdeva’s wife Divya on Monday also issued a statement in which she sought to defend her husband as innocent claiming he had no intention to molest. “There was a death in the family for which he had gone and had not slept for 24 hours,” TV channel quoted Divya saying.
