Srinagar

At least five persons have been arrested by police during a search operation in Kareemabad area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.

In morning hours, according to reports, a cordon-and-search-operation was launched by government forces in the village.

Reports said during the operation, forces vandalized the properties of the locals besides arresting five youth.

Locals have also alleged that the forces thrashed people, including the family members of slain Hizbul Mujahideen militant Naseer Pandit.

“During four-hour-long operation, they (forces) beat up innocent people and damaged their property.”

SP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam when contacted, said that some stone throwers were arrested from the area during the search operation.

When asked about the allegations of thrashing and vandalism, Aslam said he will look into the matter.
