Srinagar

A dozen of youths have been detained during night raids in the intervening night of Friday and Saturday at different Mohallas of Soibug in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, reports claimed.

Reports said that “some miscreants” have been detained who have been involved in “disruption of peace” and are indulging in stone pelting like cases.

Local sources said that following the clashes that erupted between youths and government forces on Friday and continued till late night, government forces raided the houses in several mohallas during night hours and detained many youths.

They alleged forces of breaking windowpanes and ransacking of several houses in the Guru, Fakir and Dandipora areas of Soibug.

“After the forces went berserk, announcements were made on loudspeakers. People came out of their homes and pelted stones on forces who retaliated with teargas and Pava shelling,” said a local.

Meanwhile, the complete shutdown is being observed in the area and traffic movement is off the roads.
