The staff members along with ambulance drivers of Hajin Community Health Centre (CHC) on Tuesday held a protest against the alleged highhandedness of the army.

Reports said that the army’s 13 RR unit stationed at Hajin harassed and beat up an ambulance driver Tuesday morning after he was returning from a hospital in Srinagar.

“Naseer Ahmad (an ambulance driver) was coming back from SMHS hospital when army’s 13 RR unit station at Hajin stopped him and dragged him inside the camp where he was abused and beaten,” said the protesting employees.

Earlier, a youth was injured by pellets in clashes during a cordon and search operation in Parrey Mohalla area of Hajin.

A doctor who treated the injured youth at CHC Hajin said that a youth was brought to CHC with pellet injury in his left eye. “We referred him to SMHS Srinagar for specialized treatment. The ambulance driver accordingly shifted him to Srinagar.”

After coming back from Srinagar he was stopped by army in Hajin and was beaten and harassed by them,” he said.

He said that on way back to Hajin the driver had picked up some female employees of the CHC. “The driver was taken inside the camp along with the employees where he was harassed and beaten,” he said.
