Army Sunday late evening claimed that besides a militant, three Over Ground Workers (OGW’s) were killed in a brief gunfight at Pahnoo area of Shopian district in south Kashmir.
Giving details army spokesman said “a joint Mobile Vehicle Check Post near Pohan (Shopian ) was fired upon by terrorists at 2000 hrs from a vehicle. In retaliatory firing, one terrorist identified as Shahid Ahmad Dar S/o Mushtaq Ahmad Dar R/o Jamnagri, Shopian was killed and a weapon has been found with him. Also the three OGWs/ accomplices in the car who were accompanying the terrorist were found to be dead.”
However, locals of the area have contested the claim of the army and said the three killed are civilians and not associated with militant ranks.
Police has reached the spot and started legal formalities.
“We will investigate the whole incident,” a police officer of the area told Kashmir Life.
