Soon after the slain Lashkar-e-Toiba militant Nasrullah Mir was laid to rest, intense clashes erupted in Hajin area of Bandipora district in northern part of Kashmir on Wednesday.

Reports reaching here said the youth were protesting and shouting “anti india slogans”. They also pelted stones on the forces deployed in the area, triggering clashes.

Police fired teargas shells and pellets to disperse the protesting people.

Earlier, thousands of people converged to participate in the funeral prayers of slain. The funeral witnessed massive pro freedom and anti Islam slogans, sources said.

Womenfolk amid eyes full of tears sang eulogies while mourners carried slain Nasrullah’s body through thestreets of Hain before his funeral was held, local sources said.

Nasrullah was a resident of Mir Mohalla in Hajin and had koined the militant ranks in May 2017.

Nasrullah Mir and another militant, Abu Bakar alias Ali Baba of Pakistan were killed in a brief gunfight with forces in Hajin area of Bondipora.

Two Air Force commandos were also killed in the gunfight.
