As Srinagar witnessed the first snowfall of the season today on Wednesday, it has brought cheer on the faces of the residents of the city.
It has been snowing in flurries in different parts of the Kashmir valley and some areas of Pir Panchal range since yesterday.
While it has cheered down the residents it has also broken the dry spell in the valley.
Jubilant residents were seen posting selfies and messages on social networking sites celebrating the arrival of snowfall.
An official of the MeT department said that the plains of the valley started receiving the first snow of the season during the preceding night. He said that the snowfall was very light.
However, the higher reaches of the valley, including the ski-resort of Gulmarg in north Kashmir, received snow a day earlier. Reports said that more than one-foot snow has accumulated in Gulmarg.
