Contesting that December 5 is not the actual birth date of National Conference founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, the biographer of late leader Mohammad Yusuf Taing Thursday claimed that Shiekh was actually born on January 29 and his year of birth was 1903 instead of 1905.
Taing, the compiler of ‘Aatesh-e-Chinar’, Sheikh’s autobiography told a local news gathering agency, KNS, that even Sheikh has not mentioned his date of birth as December 5 in his auto biography.
“I argued with Sheikh Sahib about this issue and told him that December 5 was not his actual date of birth. Sheikh Sahib admitted that his brother may have registered it wrongly,” said Taing.
Taing said that Sheikh at that time told him that the Muslims at that time were not conscious of maintaining birth or death records which may have caused the confusion.
Taing further claimed that he told Sheikh to rectify the error so that the misinformation may not spread. On this Taing quoted Sheikh as saying,” It will trouble my supporters and general masses will get disturbed by same.”
Taing claimed that Sheikh later decided not to mention his actual date and year of birth in Aatesh-e-Chinar.
