SRINAGAR: A total of 1,36,020 cases were settled in the 2nd National Lok Adalat held across Jammu and Kashmir on May 31. The Adalat, organised by the JK Legal Services Authority, was earlier scheduled for May 10 but was deferred.
According to official data, 1,82,786 cases were taken up by 173 benches across all districts, with settlements involving over Rs 60.28 crore in compensation and other amounts. The disposed cases included motor accident claims, civil and criminal matters, family disputes, cheque bounce cases, labour disputes, bank recoveries, and utility bill disputes.
Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Executive Chairman of the JK Legal Services Authority, inaugurated the Adalat at the District Court Complex Srinagar and inspected various benches. On-the-spot settlements were made, and compensation cheques were distributed to claimants.
The Legal Services Authority said the next National Lok Adalat will be held on September 13, 2025. Litigants who missed this round can participate in the next.
