An encounter broke out between government forces and militants in a village in Sopore area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
“Exchange of firing has been reported between forces and militants in Chaerhaar village in Sopore area. One militant was killed so for and further details of the incident are awaited,” a police spokesman said.
Official sources said the forces launched a cordon and search operation in the village following information about presence of militants in the area.
Police said that encounter is going on in a forest area despite of adverse weather conditions.
