The body of a 10-year-old boy who drowned in a pond at Sarband, Magam area of Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday has been retrieved.
The deceased has been identified as Ayan Ahmad, son of Abdul Qayoom Tantary, a resident of Bumdoogar, Magam.
Quoting officials, news agency GNS reported that upon receiving information about the incident, a rescue team comprising SDRF Kupwara, Army, Police and locals was immediately deputed to the spot.
A search and rescue operation was launched after the boy reportedly drowned while taking a bath in the pond.
Officials said the body was later retrieved with the joint efforts of SDRF, Army, Police and locals.
