The accused, identified as Ravi Kumar, a resident of Khour Deolian in RS Pura, reportedly told Bishnah Police that he had killed Rohit Kumar by repeatedly striking his head with a brick before dumping the body in a marshy area in the fields at Chak Murar.

Following the confession, a police team reached the spot and recovered the boy’s body. It was shifted to a hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination and was subsequently handed over to the family.

According to officials, Rohit’s mother, Kanta Devi, a Doda resident who lives in a rented accommodation near the Dabur Factory in Bari Brahmana, had said that Ravi took the child from home at around 4 pm on Wednesday.

She alleged that Ravi later called her and claimed that he had killed Rohit and dumped his body in the Balole Khad area. Acting on her complaint, Bari Brahmana Police searched the area but could not locate the boy.

The woman further alleged that despite repeatedly asking police to trace her husband following the phone call, she was told that he was likely joking and would not harm the child.

The child’s body was recovered only after Ravi surrendered before Bishnah Police and disclosed the location, officials said.

Police have registered FIR No. 143/2026 under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Police Station Bishnah and initiated an investigation to establish the circumstances and motive behind the alleged murder.
