SRINAGAR

Shopian town in south Kashmir remained under curfew for the fourteenth consecutive day on Friday following the killing of five persons in two different firing incidents by CRPF on September 7 and 11.

However, the district administration plans to relax the restrictions in the afternoon if the situation remains peaceful, sources said.

Curfew was relaxed for some time on Thursday afternoon.

Four persons were killed by CRPF personnel outside their camp in Gagren locality on September 7, while another person died when the paramilitary forces resorted to firing on September 11.

The state government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the firing incidents.
