A meeting of various social organizations and activists was held at the Office of J&K RTI Movement. The purpose of the meeting was to frame an organizing committee for J&K state for the ‘Save Girl Child Campaign’ which is being launched on October 2, 2013 and will travel through 17 states and end on December 10, 2013.

The campaign is intended to sensitize the cross section of people on female infanticide through outreach to about 2 crore people through press conferences, public meetings, interactions, discussions, road shows and pamphlet distribution etc in 17 states.

The Meeting was chaired by Chairman, J&K RTI Movement, Dr Shaikh Ghulam Rasool. The leader of National Alliance of People’s Movement and Khudai Khidmatgaar, Faisal Khan discussed the idea of campaign with participants in the meeting.  Himanshu Sharma a student activist said, “We are trying to mobilise the youth on this issue everywhere, as we cannot stop it without involving youth.”

18 member state level committee was framed, to take forward the work with respect to ‘Save Girl Child’ in the state of J&K and the committee includes, Dr Lubna Khan, Feroz Ahmad, Dr Shaikh Ghulam Rasool, Sajad Rasool, Junaid Andrabi, Dr MB Magray, Bilal Bhat, Azeem Ali , Raman Sharma,  and others.
