Octogenarian Hurriyat leader and Hurriyat (g) chairperson, Syed Ali Geelani Saturday termed the statement of Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed as “pretence of his mind and far from the reality”. Mufti had termed the 1975 Indira-Sheikh accord an “important event”.
Geelani said, “this accord was a historic betrayal of the then Kashmiri leadership with the people and the sacred blood of martyrs of Kashmir and it was a worst example of lust of power.” “With the result of that accord, the Indian democracy massacred lakhs of innocent and unarmed people in Kashmir and thousands of our daughters and sisters have been raped so far.”
In an amalgam statement, Geelani said, “the 1975 accord ‘revived the democratic process’ in such a way that the entire Kashmir has become a major prison and a mega graveyard and the people of this region are barred to express themselves.”
Geelani, who remains under house detention, said, “the calculations and analysis of short sighted, improvident and lustful Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and the other people of his tribe lose its credibility when compared with the historical realities.” “In same way, the conversion of Muslim Conference into National Conference was thought to be the best decision but the history proved that it was an act of treason with the blood of martyrs of 13 July 1931 and its purpose was to forge alliance with the Indian National Congress to attain power.”
“In the 40 years rule of Indian National Congress, about 40 thousand anti-Muslim riots took place in India in which thousands of innocent Muslims were massacred which the chief of Jamiat Ulmai Hind Late Moulana Asad Madini has claimed and this party also deceived the Kashmiri people and backtracked from their promises which they have made with the people of Jammu & Kashmir,” he said.
“It is political compulsion of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that he is sometimes praising late Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah, sometimes his agreements and accords and sometimes he praises the notorious communal and fascist party like BJP and RSS. This is the compulsion of greed and lust of power which is allowing a normal person to behave like an abnormal one,” Geelani said, “an employee is praising his employer to get more benefits and to remain a permanent employee which is a human nature so is doing Mufti Sayeed and it is his job.”
“The 1975 Accord of Sheikh Abdullah pushed people of the state to live a more miserable life. The Indo-Pak wars of 1948, 65, 71 and the Kargil wars have no other justifications other than that the state of Jammu & Kashmir is a disputed territory and decision with regarding to its future is still pending. The surrender of 1975 was a big blow to the democratic and human values due to which lakhs of Kashmiri families lost their loved ones and thousands of our daughters and sisters lost their dignity. The Kashmiri people are still bearing the punishment of the mistakes of the greedy leadership of that time and the people of that tribe are still harping benefits by advocating the Indian forced military occupation in Kashmir and by praising the oppressors,” the statement quoting Geelani added.
