Awami Ittihaad Party president and MLA Langate Er Rashid Saturday announced holding of all “Parties Conference” on 28th of November in Srinagar to have a “consensus to persuade Union government” for establishing IIT, IIM and IIMC in Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference in Srinagar today, he said, “we are not against establishing any institution in Jammu province but it should not be done at the cost of interests of Kashmir and while establishing IIT, IIM and AIIMS in Jammu province the interests of Pir Panchal and Chenab regions should not be ignored as usual.”
“People of Chenab and Pir Panchal regions have been always deprived and ignored and government must establish one of these three institutions each in Jammu, Chenab and Pir Panchal regions,” he said.
“He once again condemned Union government for depriving Kashmir from IIT and IIM and appealed all political, social, trade, and other organisations to form a joint strategy to force New Delhi to establish IIT, IIM and IIMC in Kashmir,” a party statement said.
He said, “we are sending invitations to all political parties besides, Valley based MPs, civil society, trade organisations, bar association and other organisations to attended an all Parties meet in Srinagar next week on 28th November to evolve a consensus as how to force Union government to establish these prestigious institutions in Kashmir.”
Rashid also criticised state government for failing to release salaries of SSA teachers and demanded resignation of education minister Naeem Akhtar for “his incompetence to resolve the genuine issues of teachers and deteriorating work culture in JKBOSE”.
He also added that he will visit Chenab Valley from Monday on wards to take stock of various political and other issues in the region.
