At least ten people were injured in violent clashes between protesters and forces in Srinagar and Baramullah on Friday.

Police sources said that the clashes erupted Friday in old Srinagar after police and Para military troops prevented hundreds of people from marching to the southern town of Shopian.

Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq had called for the march to express solidarity with the people of Shopian who are facing strict curfew from last fourteen days.

Five people in two different incidents were killed in CRPF firing in Shopian on September 7 and 11.

Clashes also erupted in the northern town of of Baramulla after Friday prayers. Police used tear gas shells to disperse the protesters both in Srinagar and Baramulla.

The injured included two photojournalists and two policemen. The injured photojournalists have identified as Tawseef Mustafa of AFP and Parvez Ahmad of Press TV.
