The state administration has disclosed that 232 local under-trials are behind the bars in the Jammu and Kashmir.

The information released by the Home Department of J&K in response to a Right to Information application revealed that 219 more persons including 99 Kashmiris and 120 foreigners were detained under the Public Safety Act ( PSA).

It further said that 32 other people, including a foreigner, convicted by different courts were presently undergoing imprisonment.

The information, however, is silent about the number of Kashmiris either facing trial or convicted outside Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources said that the application for getting the information under the Right to Information was filed by Irfan Hafeez Lone, Vice-President of Baramulla Bar Association.
