SRINAGAR: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has issued a comprehensive order effecting widespread transfers of Assistant Directors within the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, following their promotion from the rank of Statistical Officer. The directive, issued under Order No. 14-DES of 2026, takes effect immediately across the Union Territory.
The adjustments have been made to strengthen administrative efficiency and optimise deployment of officers across key departments and districts. The transfers include a wide range of postings across Kashmir and Jammu divisions, covering Agriculture, Education, Medical, Planning, Tribal Affairs, Youth Services, Social Welfare, and Health Services.
Among the notable transfers, Mehbooba Akhter has been posted to the Directorate of Command Area Development, Kashmir, while Mohd Younis Khan has been assigned as Regional Director, Evaluation and Statistics, Kashmir. Rubeena Tabasum has been posted to the Principal, Dental College, Srinagar, relieving the incumbent of additional responsibilities. Ajaz Rasool has moved to the School of Applied Economics and Statistics, Kashmir, while Firdos Qadir has been assigned to the Tribal Affairs Department in the Civil Secretariat.
Other officers have been adjusted to important administrative and technical positions: Tanveer Ahmad to the office of Chief Medical Officer, Doda; Kuldeep Kumar to Principal, Government Medical College, Udhampur; Bashir Ahmad Mir to District Statistics and Evaluation Officer, Kupwara; Sajad Ahmad Sheikh to Chief Education Officer, Kulgam; Ahmad Simnani to Department, Civil Secretariat; and Kuldeep Kumar to Principal, Government Medical College, Associated Hospitals Jammu.
Further transfers include Sabir Hussain to Assistant Commissioner Development, Jammu; Rajinder Kumar to Chief Education Officer, Jammu; Ravinder Kumar to Chief Agriculture Officer, Samba; Raj Kumar to Chief Education Officer, Udhampur; Vijay Prabhaker to School of Applied Economics and Statistics, Jammu; Amar Jeet Singh to Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, JK; Sunil Kumar Raina to Social Welfare Department, Civil Secretariat; Fida Hussain Zargar to Chief Planning Officer, Budgam; Gazalla Nabi to District Statistics and Evaluation Officer, Srinagar; and Rajinder Singh Sethi to Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir. Gulzar Hussain remains at Chief Medical Officer, Rajouri.
Additionally, Rohini Sharma, previously awaiting adjustment, has been posted to the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Jammu.
All officers are deemed to have been relieved from their previous assignments with immediate effect. The adjustments follow the promotion of Statistical Officers under Government Order No. 32-JK (PD and MD) of 2025 and reflect the administration’s commitment to strengthening economic planning, statistical evaluation, and governance efficiency across Jammu and Kashmir.
The Directorate of Economics and Statistics operates from SDA Colony, Bemina, Srinagar, and Ashok Vihar, Janipur, Jammu, and continues to play a pivotal role in collecting, analysing, and reporting economic and statistical data for policy-making in the Union Territory.
