Modi noted that the crisis, ongoing for over three weeks, has disrupted cargo movement through the Strait of Hormuz, but the government is ensuring minimal disruption to fuel and gas supplies. He pointed out that India imports around 60 per cent of its LPG needs, and domestic production is being increased to meet demand.

The Prime Minister underlined the multifaceted challenges posed by the conflict, including economic, humanitarian, and national security concerns. He also stressed the significance of the region for India, noting that many affected countries share extensive trade ties with India, supply crude oil and gas, and host approximately one crore Indian expatriates.

Since the outbreak of hostilities, the government has been providing assistance to Indians in the affected areas. Modi added that he had spoken with West Asian leaders in two rounds of calls, who assured the safety of Indian nationals. While some people have unfortunately lost their lives or been injured, aid and support are being extended to affected families.

The Prime Minister urged Parliament to convey a united and unanimous voice on the crisis to the international community.
