26 civilians have died while 158 have sustained injuries in the firing along the LoC in last two years, government said on Monday.

In a written reply, government said that seven people have been killed in Jammu’s Chhamb, Suchetgarh and Marh areas, while same number were killed in Samba and Vijaypur areas.

Other 12 people have died in Kuthua, Rajouri and Poonch areas, the government figures reveal.

The highest number of injured are from Chhamb, Suchetgarh and Marh areas where 91 people were injured.

In Samba, 12 people have been reported injured, 13 in Kathua, three in Rajouri, 31 in Poonch, while eight persons have been stated injured in Karnah area of Kupwara district.

The documents also state that 216 structures were damaged and 42.35 lacs of ex-gratia relief had been paid to the affected people.
