Twenty seven complaints of alleged custodial killings, torture and other human rights violations were  received by  defense ministry against Army during last three years in J&K, Parliament was formally informed.

Out of total 127 complaints received, 80 such complains surfaced from north eastern states and 20 complaints were received from other states.

The information in this regard was given by union minister of defense, AK Antony in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday in response to NC MP G N Ratanpuri’s question.

Antony informed the House of Elders  that there are 7 such cases which are subjudice in various courts and in 5 cases Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) was invoked.  “Armed Forces take suitable action to dispose of such complaints in consultation with units and other agencies concerned in the matter,”Antony said.
