A pall of gloom descended in Surankote (Kalali) village of Poonch district in Jammu and Kashmir here when three minors drowned in a river.
Reports reaching GNS said that three students Shafiat Ali son of Fazal Hussain (08); Nazakat Ali son of Fazal Hussain (10) and Rafaqat Ali son of Lal Hussain (13) all residents of Murrah, Kalali were washed away after they were crossing the river near Murrah in Surankote.
The students were returning from school when they drowned in the area, reports said.
Soon after the news spread in the area, locals, army, police and district administration officials reached the spot and launched the searches to retrieve the bodies, reports said.
“Two bodies of Nazakat Ali and Rafaqat Ali were retrieved hours after they drowned,” a police official said, adding that efforts are on to retrieve the body of other one.
