SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Saturday said there will be no compromise on the quality of macadamisation works and no payment will be released to contractors using sub-standard materials.

Choudhary made the remarks while responding to a question raised by Legislator Mubarik Gul in the Legislative Assembly. He added that strict instructions have been issued to district-level officers to consult local legislators before finalising macadamisation plans or road projects.
The Deputy Chief Minister informed the House that 344.32 kilometres of roads were macadamised or black-topped across the Union Territory during 2025–26. He further said that macadamisation plans for various constituencies in the coming financial year will be prepared once the Finance Department provides the required budget ceiling.
Legislator Chander Prakash Ganga also raised supplementary questions on the matter during the session.
