4.2-Magnitude Earthquake Jolts Parts of Uttarakhand

   

SRINAGAR: An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 jolted parts of Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi district early Monday, prompting residents in several areas to rush out of their buildings, reports said.

The tremor was recorded at 1:21 am, according to a report issued by the District Emergency Operation Centre in Uttarkashi. No casualties or damage to property had been reported so far.

The earthquake was centred near the Rajgarhi area of Barkot tehsil at a depth of 10 km, the report said.

Tremors were felt across several parts of the Yamuna Valley, including Uttarkashi, Barkot, Purola, Mori, Chinyalisaur and Dunda.

Residents in the affected areas felt the shaking and some rushed outside their homes as a precautionary measure.
