The Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul Wednesday said that all legislators will be given equal opportunity to raise issues of public importance during the forthcoming Budget session.

The Speaker was chairing an officers’ meeting of Assembly Secretariat, convened to discuss and review the preparations made for the upcoming session.

He asked officers to accommodate the questions of all legislators submitted by them with regard to the issues of people of the state and that of their respective constituencies. He also directed to ensure that an equal number of questions of legislators from all parties are listed for the session.

Speaker Gul instructed the concerned to examine the questions submitted by the legislators thoroughly and directed them that those of similar nature and contents should be clubbed to save the time and to ensure that maximum number of legislator’s get opportunity to project their issues.

The Speaker, in a separate meeting, also discussed the issue of re-organization of Assembly Secretariat. Threadbare discussion was held on enhancement of budget provisions and creation of staff.

It was decided in the meeting that Planning and Finance Departments, in consultation with Secretary Assembly, will examine the comprehensive proposal already prepared in this regard and submit it to the government for approval.

Detailed discussions were also held on overall development scenario of Eidgah Constituency.

The Speaker stressed the need for opening of Degree College in the Constituency and up -gradation of Hospital at Sangam, besides accelerated work on development projects taken up in the area.
