A leopard wreaked havoc on Monday in Lassipora area of South Kashmir’s Qazigund town injuring four persons including a policeman.

“A leopard was seen on the outskirts of Lassipora  village in the wee hours who attacked two persons who had gone to answer nature’s call,” a police official said.

As soon as the information reached forest officials, police and Army, efforts to track the animal were initiated. Even before officials could overpower the animal, it attacked a policeman while another who tried to hit the leopard with a long bamboo stick faced the same result.

The ferocious leopard attacked four persons including a policeman. All the four persons were rushed to nearby hospital.

Reports said that all efforts were made to trap the animal, however, the ferocious leopard continued to pounce on people. Finally it was shot dead by Army.

The Army pumped several bullets into its body, eyewitnesses said.
