Srinagar: As Aadhar Cards are turning mandatory and are sought almost in every workspace now, specially-abled people complain of inconvenience in getting enrolled for the cards.

Talking to Kashmir Life, a number of people whose family members are suffering from some sort of disability alleged that they were assured that teams will visit their home for the enrollment process, but that never happened.

Bashir Ahmad, a resident of Islamabad district in southern part of Kashmir, is a father of two disabled kids and at the time of enrollment, he said, when he complained that he cannot bring his kids he was assured that a separate team will visit his home.

“Now a year has passed and no one has turned,” said Bashir, who claims to have requested at least a “dozen times to the officials”.

“Now the problem is that school authorities are seeking Aadhar card number of my kids,” he said. “I told them about the situation but they do not understand on pretext that they have been directed by officials to get students enrolled by Aadhar number.”

Fresh enrollment, as per officials has been started in a number of districts to cover the missed ones.

However, people complain that these enrollment counters are overcrowded that leads to the wait of days together.

“After waiting for entire day, I returned hopeless as I could not make to the enrollment window,” a resident, Raoof Ahmad said. “There is no proper manner or queue so that registration process would have been conducted smoothly.”
