Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has expressed deep condolences over the death of a bus driver from Budgam who died in Tral area of Pulwama on April 24th during poll violence, a party statement said.

Pertinently, Bus driver Mohammad Ismail Bhat  from Raithan Budgam died after his bus rammed with an electric pylon as the bus was attacked with stones by some agitating youth . A high tension wire  fell upon the bus which resulted in death of the driver.

Reports said that the bus (JK01-643) that was meant for carrying election staff was hit by a high tension wire near a polling booth in Amlar area of Tral town on April 24th . The bus driver and the conductor suffered serious injuries after receiving electric shocks. The duo was removed to the nearby hospital for treatment where the bus driver identified as Mohammad Ismail Bhat  later succumbed to his injuries.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat visited the bereaved family at Raithan on Friday and consoled the poor family . Muzaffar said that the slain driver is survived by nine children out of whom there are five unmarried daughters.

“The family members  informed me that nobody from Pulwama of Budgam district administration visited his family except SP Awantipura . This is so unfortunate,” the statement quoting Raja Muzzafar as having said.

“We demand that the family should be monetarily compensated and a Government job should be provided to one of the son of the deceased driver,” the party demanded.
