SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a case against a former patwari of Trigam Patwar Halqa in Kishtwar for allegedly demanding Rs 5 lakh in bribe and accepting Rs 3 lakh from a complainant.
The case, FIR No. 02/2026, was registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, as amended, at Police Station ACB Doda against Mohd Arif Mir, then Patwari of Trigam Patwar Halqa and a resident of Malipeth near Grid Station, Kishtwar.
According to the ACB, the case was registered following a verification into a complaint alleging that Mir misused his official position by demanding Rs 5 lakh from the complainant for issuing a Fard, a revenue document.
The ACB said the accused allegedly accepted Rs 3 lakh through a cheque as illegal gratification, following which the Fard was issued.
During the investigation, the ACB obtained a search warrant from the court and conducted a search at Mir’s residential premises in Malipeth in the presence of a magistrate and independent witnesses.
Further investigation in the case is underway.
