SRINAGAR: Former Divisional Commissioner, who overnight assumed the charge of Adviser to Lt Governor, has been removed from his position. It was not immediately known about his replacement if any.

Reports said the decision was taken at the MHA level and was implemented by the Raj Bhawan. The factors that led to his removal are not known.

“Pursuant to communication No. 15030/40/2019/J&K dated 4th October 2020, of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Shri Baseer Ahmad Khan (Retired IAS:2000) is hereby relieved from the post of Adviser to the Lieutenant Governor, Union Territory f Jammu  Kashmir, with immediate effect,” the order issued by the Raj Bhawan said.

Khan was appointed as an adviser after he retired from service in March 2020.
