Amid complete shutdown Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel fired in the air to disperse the protesting youth who pelted stones on their camp and tried to destroy the bunker and the concertina wire erected around it.

Sources told Kashmir Life that the youth protesting against the Shopian killing pelted stones on the CRPF camp situated in the industrial area of the town.

The troopers chased the protesters resulting in the violent clashes which were on when the reports last came in.

When contacted, police spokesman confirmed the stone pelting incident in Kulgam.

Four persons were killed in the firing incident which took place when world famous music conductor Zubin Mehta was in Srinagar.

Though police claimed that the slain were militants but the identities of the three revealed so far suggest that they were civilians. The locals said all the slain were unarmed civilians.

Three of the deceased were identified as Tawseef Ahmad Bhat, 18, son of Gulam Muhammad Bhat, resident of Baba Mohallah Shopian, Muhammad Yousuf resident of Durpora, Zainpora (a labourer) and Tariq Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Nabi Mir, a resident of Okay, Kulgam.
