A gunfight broke out between suspected militants and government forces at Balhama area of Khunmoh, some 18 kms from Srinagar city, following the attack on a BJP worker in which a policeman was injured earlier today.
A senior official while confirming the incident said that soon after the incident, the joint team of army, CRPF and Special Operation Group (SOG) of police cordoned off the whole area and launched a massive hunt to nab the assailants.
The exchange of fire began after the forces approached the building where militants are said to be hiding, he said.
