KL report

SRINAGAR

As former Cm Omar Abdullah took to social networking site, Twitter, asking tourists not to ‘abandon’ Kashmir as visiting place, veteran Bollywood actor Anupamp Kher Tuesday blamed Indian media for creating panic among tourists outside state and world by overplaying the news reports about flood threat in Kashmir Valley. He asked Indian TV news channels to act as promoters of Kashmir Tourism and stop creating fear psychosis among the tourists.

Addressing a news conference in world famous tourist resort Gulmarg, Anupamp Kher requested the tourists of India and world to visit Kashmir without any hesitation. He said that Kashmir is a paradise in real sense and nowhere around the globe, he has seen a place like Kashmir.

“I have travelled across the globe including Australia, Istanbul, Malaysia, Germany, Switzerland, but i am telling you with authority that Kashmir is distinct from all these places. It is really a top most tourist destination and i myself love to visit this place,” he said.

Kher, according to CNS, said that he visited Kashmir on the request of Chief Minister Mufti Muhammad Sayeed to present a clear picture about Kashmir before the tourists.

“I readily agreed when he called me. I have deep love for this land. It is heartbreaking that some media outlets twisted the facts about the recent flood threat in Kashmir ahead of the start of the tourism season. I found peace here and i assure all the tourists that they will forget all the tourist destinations including Goa and Switzerland by visiting Kashmir,” he said.

Kher urged upon Government of India and Jammu and Kashmir to focus on the development of the State. “I visited the fascinating Gulmarg resort from Srinagar by road and was annoyed to see the bad condition of the road. I appeal to the government to focus on the development so that tourism industry will get more boost in the State,” he said.
