After AIP held a protest march in city centre Lal Chowk Friday, J & K RTI Movement too “castigated the Government of India over its proposed move to grant incentives and citizenship rights to West Pakistan refugees and warned of dire consequences if such anti-Kashmir moves are carried ahead”.

“This is no less than a disaster for the people of Kashmir via its wicked designs RSS wants to achieve in J & K,” a statement issued by the forum said.

The RTI Movement alleged, “They have been finding the ways and means to damage the State demography  since 1947 and now issuing permanent resident certificates to West Pakistan refugees is another such move.”

It said that the West Pakistan refugees were never residents of J&K and there is no legal or constitutional obligation to provide them with PRCs. “The best way to address the issue is to send these refugees back to their country of origin.

This grave situation calls on the leadership and civil society of Kashmir for display of unity and wisdom to thwart the nefarious designs of Sangh Parivar,” the statement further said.

“We are keenly monitoring the situation and also the reports that are coming up over providing permanent settlement to the Pak refugees in Jammu region .

J & K RTI Movement will come up with its stand on the issue and will oppose any settlement programmes strongly,” the statement added.
