The area in Ramban, Ramsoo and Banihal, on Srinagar-Jammu highway witnessed worst kind of traffic jam on Thursday not because of bad weather conditions but hundreds of vehicles had been mobilized to receive former bureaucrat Bashir Ahmad Ronyal.

Ronyal recently retired as commissioner secretary employment J&K government.

Sources said that Ronyal, like many other former bureaucrats has decided to join politics and he is eyeing on the coming state assembly elections.

They added that today was his first visit to his native area after he retired from his services and locals had arranged a warm reception in his favor creating a mess on the highway.

Local sources told Kashmir Life that Ronyal has been preparing to jump into politics since a couple of years and he used to visit his native area almost on every weekend and meet people.

Once considered a close confidante of PDP patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Ronyal is believed to contest as an independent candidate in the state assembly elections. “His party affiliation decision shall be public only after he is elected,” sources said.
